Today, we're thrilled to officially announce: Blue Freshwater is launching in spring 2026. And it's much more than a simple adaptation — it's an experience designed from the ground up for freshwater aquarists.

Yet the digital tools available to this community remain surprisingly limited. Most existing apps are either too generic, abandoned, or lacking the modern features that aquarists rightfully expect in 2026.

Our Community Spoke — We Listened

Since the launch of Blue Reef, we've consistently received requests from freshwater hobbyists. Planted tank enthusiasts, Malawi cichlid keepers, Betta breeders, aquascapers inspired by IAPLC competitions — they all told us the same thing: "We want the same quality app for freshwater."

We heard them loud and clear. Blue Freshwater (or Blue Fresh for short) is our answer.

• GH (General Hardness) — Essential for fish well-being and plant growth
• KH (Carbonate Hardness) — For pH stability and preventing dangerous crashes
• NH3/NH4+ (Ammonia/Ammonium) — Nitrogen cycle monitoring, critical during cycling

• NO3 (Nitrate) — Balancing fish health with plant nutrition
• Temperature — Continuous tracking with customizable alerts

Each parameter will include adapted reference ranges based on your aquarium type (planted, African cichlids, Discus, shrimp…) and trend graphs to spot issues before they become problems.

No need to download a second app! Blue Reef and Blue Freshwater will coexist within the same Blue application. A simple domain switch will let you toggle between the reef universe and the freshwater universe — and back again.

If you maintain both a reef tank AND a planted aquarium (and we know many of you do!), you'll be able to manage both from the same app, with parameters and species tailored to each world.
